Thosewhoask.com gets its name from Luke 11:13. There, Jesus tells us that God wants to give His Holy Spirit to all those who ask. If this is a strange concept to you, or if you think that might not be true, you are in the right place! God brought you here for a reason! Please spend some time reading the content here, and ask God to show you what Luke 11:13 means.
Welcome to thosewhoask.com!
"Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter the Kingdom of God.... The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” John 3:5 and 8, NASB 1995.
Are you ready for a deep dive into Scripture about the Holy Spirit?
A few years ago, the Lord put it on my heart to go through the Bible and focus on every verse I saw that discussed the Holy Spirit, then to sort those verses into separate studies based on the subjects discussed in those verses. As I did that, I realized two things: (1) God has so much to say in the Bible about His plans for His Holy Spirit (the studies that are on this website include over 3,500 verses that relate to the Holy Spirit); and (2) I had been a Christian for over 30 years, and somehow I had never studied this in Scripture, or heard more than 2 or 3 sermons in my entire life about the Holy Spirit.
This website is for Christians who, like me, might not have thought much about the Holy Spirit. I may have missed some verses, but my intent is that if a Bible passage talks about the Holy Spirit, we are going to study it at thosewhoask.com. If you read these 3,500+ verses humbly, asking God to show you what these passages mean for you, and what God's plans are for His Holy Spirit in you, I believe that your life will never be the same! But don't take my word for it. Click on the "Contents" button to see the Table of Contents for the subjects we will be studying. You can download free versions of all of these studies to view on your computer by just signing up for the free trial membership on the "Plans and Pricing" page listed above, and then downloading them under the "Study Materials" link. If you prefer printable copies, you can upgrade your membership to any of the other subscription plans. Just click on the "Plans and Pricing" tab above for more information!
The Gospel
While the mission of thosewhoask.com is to share what Scripture says about the Holy Spirit, Jesus says that the Holy Spirit is here to glorify Jesus Christ. John 16:14. The Bible also says that "no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, 'Jesus is accursed'; and no one can say, 'Jesus is Lord,' except by the Holy Spirit." 1 Corinthians 12:3. One of the most important things the Holy Spirit does on Earth is lead people to give their lives to Jesus. In case you have not yet made that choice, we want to present the Gospel to you right now.

God made us to be with Him forever. When He created us through Adam and Eve, He made us sinless, and He made us without knowledge of good and evil so that we would not be tempted by evil desires. But God does not force Himself on anyone, so He also gave Adam and Eve a choice whether to remain in that innocent, sinless state, or to have the knowledge of good and evil. Adam and Eve chose to know the difference between good and evil. From that moment, they were no longer sinless and innocent. Instead, they became less than perfect because they were now constantly tempted by a desire to sin. Christians call this "The Fall." We say "The Fall" because in that one choice, Adam and Eve made a choice for them and all of humanity that caused us all to fall away from God's presence by choosing a life that includes a desire to sin, to do things that please us instead of only doing what pleases God. (Genesis, Chapters 1 and 2; Gen. 3:1-7; Rom. 6:17-18).

You see, God is perfectly just. His very nature demands that anyone who sins must die. (Gen. 2:17, Ex. 33:20, Hab. 1:13, Rom. 6:23). But God is also perfectly loving, and the Bible says that God does not want a single person to die because of their sin. 2 Pet. 3:9, Ez. 18:31-32. So here is what God did: He sent Himself, in the form of His Son Jesus Christ, to Earth to live a sinless life as a human. Then His Son Jesus chose to die on the cross as the payment for every sin that every person would ever commit. Heb. 7:26-27. Then He brought His Son back to life 3 days later, to prove to all of humanity that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Acts 1:1-3, 1 Cor. 15:12-20. God promises that every person who calls on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ will be forgiven for all of their sins, and will be given eternal life with God instead of eternal separation from God in Hell. John 3:16, Heb. 4:15-16. The Bible also says that to call on the name of the Lord, you need only (1) believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, (2) believe that Jesus died for your sins; and (3) ask Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior. John 14:3; John 14:30-31, Rom. 5:18, Heb. 5:8. Please hear this -- the Bible clearly says that the only way to be saved from eternal death is to give your life to Jesus. 2 Pet. 3:9, John 3:36, John 12:48, John 14:6, Matt. 7:13-14, Matt. 10:28, Rev. 21:8, Acts 4:12, Heb. 10:26-27. We are saved by faith in Jesus because God, in His grace, chose to save us. It is impossible for us to do enough good things to earn our salvation. Rom. 3:23, and Eph. 2:8-9.
If you have never given your life to Jesus Christ, won't you please do that now? This is literally the most important decision you will ever make. Please do not give in to the prideful thought that you can save yourself or earn your way back into God's presence! Surrender to God, and let Him save you! Just pray something like this:

"God, I am so sorry I have lived my life for myself instead of You. I believe You sent Your Son Jesus Christ to die for me, to pay the price for my sins. Thank you for loving me that much! I give my life to You. I ask Jesus to be my Lord and Savior, and I ask You to live inside me from this day on, changing me each day from the inside out to be more like You. In Jesus' name, Amen!"

There is nothing magical about using those exact words. Use whatever words you like, as long as what you are saying to God is that you want to change from living for yourself, doing what you want, to living for God, doing what He wants, and that you are asking Jesus to be your Leader, your King. If you did that right now, you are a child of God, part of the body of Jesus Christ! 1 Cor. 12:13. The Bible says that there is a joyous celebration happening in Heaven right now because of the choice you just made! Luke 15:7-10. Welcome to the Christian family!
Now, please dig into the Bible to see what the Bible says about the Holy Spirit. You will see that God plainly tells us that in the same way that we cannot save ourselves, we cannot become good Christians in our own power. God does not tell us to try harder so that we sin less. Instead, God says that if we will just ask the Holy Spirit to live in us, God will change us from the inside out. Luke 11:13. It is God who changes us. We do not change ourselves. After that, ask God to lead you to a church home. God made us for community: first, community with Him through the Holy Spirit, and second, community with other Christians so we can encourage each other in this life, and point others to Jesus Christ.

What denomination is Thosewhoask.com?
Thosewhoask.com and all of the material we share here is not connected to any denomination. The heart of this website is to help Christ followers study all of Scripture about the Holy Spirit, and to ask God to give us His understanding of what those verses mean. Thosewhoask.com is intended to be helpful and encouraging for Christians who are part of any denomination, who simply want to study God's word together to grow closer to God. Our prayer is that everyone who uses Thosewhoask.com will feel welcome here, and will be a vital part of our online community of Christian brothers and sisters.
What Bible translation does Thosewhoask.com use?
At Thosewhoask.com, we believe that every translation of the Bible is inspired by God, that God Himself put the words of the Bible into the minds of the people who wrote it. 2 Tim. 3:16. We believe that is true about the Books of the Bible when they were written centuries ago; we also believe that this is true about the different translations of the Bible that exist today. In other words, we believe that God uses different Bible translations to reach all of us with the words that will speak most clearly to each one of us individually.

That said, the Bible studies that are published on Thosewhoask.com quote from the New American Standard Bible translation. If you feel more comfortable with a different translation than the NASB, or even if you feel that there is only one Holy translation that is authored by God and that it is not the NASB, you can follow along with our studies while still using the Bible translation that you prefer.
